Lovely Vintage Pull Down Die Cut Valentine has a Cupid Tying Up A Red Heart with green ribbon. He is holding a Dove that has a note in it's beak. The card has an orange honeycomb decoration. It has lovely flowers in a basket. Die cuts are embossed and glossy. Card is used and printed in Germany.
History of Die Cuts: "During the Victorian Era (1837-1901), middle-class households would often have a family scrap album, where the bits of paper collected each day could be collages onto its thick pages.

The earliest materials explicitly produced as die-cut “scrap” for decorating homemade albums were black-and-white, hand-colored etchings. As lithography processes improved, bright colors, textured embossing, and glossy finishes were employed to enhance the printed imagery. By the late 1800s,

Germany, and the

had become the leaders in such scrap production. Successful companies like Currier & Ives and Raphael Tuck & Sons created beautiful scrap pieces alongside smaller brands like Allen & Ginter and Littauer & Boysen. But the German die cuts are considered the best because of the details of their tooling process."

Condition: Corners and edges are worn. There is a small tear on the left edge of card. And some aging on pull down flap.
